10 Year Book Challenge

The Staff of the Minneapolis Library is issuing a challenge to its patrons. The challenge is to read as many books as possible from its 10 Year Book Challenge display. The display features books which were new ten years ago. Some of these books you may have read, but probably, many of them you have missed. Stop by the Library today and check out a 10 Year Challenge book. Better still, check out several.

Accepting Employment Applications

The Minneapolis Public Library is taking applications to build a pool of candidates for future library openings. Pick up your application at the Circulation Desk of the Library. Per Library Policy all applications are purged at the end of the year.

Minneapolis Library Remains Open

The Minneapolis Library is still open for business during its normal hours. Rumors have circulated to the contrary, BUT are definitely not accurate. The Library has made some adjustments due to COVID-19. The Library is limiting the number of patrons to 12 at a time and they may spend only an hour at a time. Per Ottawa County Resolution 20-25, face masks are required and as stipulated in the Resolution, masks must cover the nose and mouth. The Library is offering curb-side service to those who call the Library in advance. Phone number for the Minneapolis Library is 785-392-3205.

Minneapolis Library Awarded Notable Books Grant

The Minneapolis Public Library was a recipient of the 2020 Kansas Notable Books Grant. The Award consists of fifteen books that are written either by a Kansan, set in Kansas, or are about a Kansas related project. Stop by the Minneapolis Library and see the display of Notable Book Award Winners. These books are available for your checkout enjoyment.

Check Out Our Updated Catalog

Checkout our upgraded Pathfinder Catalog. The new update is powered by Aspen Discovery. The changes make it easier to find books available in the Minneapolis Library. You also will be able to see which Rotating Books are here in our Library. With a click of the mouse, you can see the newest releases in Fiction, Children’s Books, Audio Books, as well as Movies and TV Series. Soft Opening at Library

The Minneapolis Public Library is doing a soft reopening Wednesday through Friday (May 13th – 15th) from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M.  Library service will be curbside only.  Please call or email 15 minutes prior to your arrival for the best service.  The phone number is 785-392-3205 or our email address is mplibrary@nckcn.com.  To aid in your selection please consult our online catalog and select Minneapolis as the Library.  The web address for our catalog is https://catalog.ckls.bywatersolutions.com/.  There will be a limit of 2 recent release materials per family.  All other books and DVDs are available for checkout.  At this time, magazines are not available for circulation.  Please be patient with material availability, as returned materials must be quarantined for 72 hours before they are accessible again for checkout.  When you arrive at the Library, please remain in your vehicle and allow Library Staff to approach.  Staff will be wearing face masks and gloves for your protection.

Library Board Meeting Time Changed

The regular meeting time of the Minneapolis Public Library Board is being moved up to Monday May 11th in the Library Meeting Room at 5 p.m.  The meeting change was necessitated to discuss reopening the Library after being closed due to COVID-19.  Normal Library Board meeting times are the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
