Ron Brubaker, Director
Ron started at the library in 2004. Previously, Ron worked as an Archaeology Technician at the Kansas State Historical Society after receiving his Bachelor’s in Anthropology form K-State. His favorite part of working at the library is helping patrons find the information they need and getting to know them along the way. Ron’s favorite type of books to read are biographies because he enjoys reading about the past and learning how people overcome their life challenges. His favorite book is The Big E: The Story of the U.S.S. Enterprise because it holds special importance for him as Ron’s father served on the ship during World War II, bringing his father’s stories to life. In his spare time, Ron enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 kids, attending sporting events, and squeezing in time for family genealogy when he can. Ron’s advice to patrons would be,
“If there’s anything patrons need, they should ask us [librarians] because there are so many more resouces than the books on the shelves.”
Angela Clever, Assistant Director and Youth Services Director
Angela returned to the Minneapolis Public Library in 2015. She briefly took a break to raise her children, but she is excited to be back! In high school and college, Angela started work as a library aide and fell in love with the job and worked at the Salina Public Library for a time. Her favorite part working at the Minneapolis Public Library is visiting with patrons and watching children discover their passion for reading. While she loves a wide genre of books, Angela’s favorite authors include Dr. Suess and Shel Silverstein. In her free time, Angela enjoys spending time with her family and reading. Angela’s advice to patrons would be,
“Don’t be afraid to try new authors or books. If someone suggests a book they think is really good, give it a try. It might surprise you.”
Nancy Kennedy, Librarian
Nancy came to the Minneapolis Public Library in 2013. Nancy, a lifelong reader, said her favorite part of working at the library is getting to know the library patrons. Some of her favorite book titles include The Stand by Stephen King, Swan Song by Robert McCammon, and novels by Dean Koontz. Nancy has had a variety of work experiences, including working at a doctor’s office and installing draperies. At home, Nancy likes to make dream catchers, go fishing, and fly stunt kites. Her advice to library patrons would be to,
“Ask us! We love to help find answers to your questions.”
