The Minneapolis Public Library welcomes both monetary and material donations. These donations help us expand our collection to better allow us to assist our patrons. Donations are tax-deductible with proof of purchase, such as a receipt or a cancelled check. Please contact the library if you have any questions. Thank you for considering donation.
Material Donations
The library accepts gently used books, DVD’s, audio books, E-readers, and video games. These materials will be reviewed by our librarians to be added to our collection. Duplicates and other items that are not fit for our collection will be saved for our annual Book Sale, with profits benefiting our library.
Please deliver donations to the library during operating hours, so we may thank you! Please review the following guidelines for materials that we cannot use in our collection.
Guidelines for Donation Materials
We do not accept the following items
- Condensed books
- Encyclopedias
- Dictionaries
- Medical books that are over 5 years old
- Magazines
If you are interested in donating furniture, games, activities, or other supplies, please contact a librarian.
Monetary Donations
The library also accepts monetary donations. Monetary donations help us by supplementing our budget to purchase additions to our library collections, program materials, and other resources for our patrons.
Donations can be made in any amount and can be designated to fulfill a specific purpose upon request, such as purchasing children’s books or large print books. Please drop monetary donations by the library during operating hours, so we may thank you!
If you are looking to set up a memorial or honorarium account, please see the Memorial and Honorarium page for more specific information.
